Chris Moneymaker, winner of the event in 2003, was only one of the big names of the poker world who showed up for the freeroll poker tournaments, ending day 1a with 107,425 chips to his name. On the other hand, Vitaly Lunik ended the day with 82,000 chips. Some important players lost all their chips, including Greg Raymer, Mike Caro, Nick Schulman and Ray Romano.

Almost 1,500 poker players joined the second calendar day of the World Series of Poker Main Event first day. Due to the number of players, some had to play in the poker tables in the Amazon room while others were moved to the Pavilion. Jamie Gold, Justin Bonomo, Erick Lindgren and Bertrand Grospellier were some of the important names who were out of the tournament during this day.

Jason DeWitt, chip leader James Danielson, Robert Miller and Vladimir Schemelev are some of the famous poker players who still remain in the competition after the second calendar day. Now the Main Event will continue with days 1c and 1d. The second day of the competition will also be divided in two days due to the great number of players.
