Jeff Forrest is the winner of World Poker Finals

The Foxwoods Resort Casino was the place for the final poker table of the 2010 World Poker Finals Main Event on Tuesday. The champion was crowned at past midnight on Wednesday more than 200 poker hands after the event started. Jeff Forrest , a young poker player defeated Dave Inselberg and won the prize of $548,752.

Forrest was the best player in a field of 242 players. The $10,000 no-limit Hold’em poker tournament was the first WPT event he ever played. Other talented players were part of the final table, including Keven Stammen, Mohsin Charania, Nikolai Yakovenko, and Thomas Marchese. Although the players went all in on several occasions during the night, they also usually found the cards they needed to continue in the game.

Mohsin Charania was the first poker player to go home in 6th place and he left with $104,741, while Keven Stammen was sent home by Dave Inselberg and he ended 5th position with $128,650. Next poker player to go was Nikolai Yakovenko who took a prize of $170,733 and was followed by Marchese, who ended third and won $211,759.

Thomas Marchese was chip leader with 3.02 million chips at the beginning of the game and Forrest was in second position with 1.95 million. Marchese also made the news during the night as he won 960 points, which meant he had a total of 6,326 points and became the leader in the Card Player of the Year race.
