Harman was born in Reno, Nevada. She started to play poker on 1972 when she was 8 years old. Then, some years later, she graduated from the University of Nevada. She won her first bracelet at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) on 2000 at the prestigious No Limit Deuce to Seven Lowball Event (at the final table which included Lyle Berman and Steve Zolotov). She had never played that poker variant before that event but she received a 5 minutes tutorial with Howard Lederer. She won her second bracelet on 2002 on the $5.000 Limit Hold’em event.

Harman’s initial decision of playing poker professionally separated her from her father. They were not in touch until their reconciliation. On 2004, Harman went away from poker for a year because she had a second kidney transplant. Kidney problems, she shares with her sister and her mother, who died when Jennifer was 17, have pursued her since her was a child. After getting a second kidney, Harman founded a nonprofit organization called Creating Organ Donation Awareness (CODA), to collect money for the cause, as well as to raise public awareness. Harman got a fourth place on the World Poker Tour, Five-Diamond World Poker Classic, a fifth place on the inaugural event at the Professional Poker Tour, and a second place at the WSOP Circuit Championship on the River.

Harman wrote the Limit Hold’em chapter for Super System. She is the only woman who regularly participates at the Big Game, strong bets poker games at the Bellagio. Harman is married to stylist Marco Traniello, who has also become into a professional poker player. The couple has twins and she is a very good friend of player Daniel Negreanu. Harman has appeared on TV series such as GSN High Stakes Poker, and NBC series Poker After, where she won Week 8’s tournament. Her earnings because won tournaments rise up to 2.000.000 dollars.
